race war, riot in the streets.

"By definition, a government has no conscience. Sometimes it has a policy, but nothing more." ~Albert Camus
Everyone seems to know something about all the Trayvon Martin noise down in Florida. Basically: some half hispanic, over-zealous neighborhood-watch goon shot an unarmed black teenager. The problem at hand arose because the Florida state laws are kind of ambiguous over whether the hispanic fella, George Zimmerman, was allowed to kill the kid. It all seems to come down to a question of "racial profiling or self-defense"? As with all things, it's not quite as clear cut as all that.

Neo-Nazis have recently taken to patrolling the streets of Sanford, Florida to make all the nice white folks down there feel safe and sound. The title of the article is "there's a race war going on" and I'll be damned if that doesn't excite me just a little. Right or wrong, this Martin case is starting to titillate. I don't much care about the outcome either way Zimmerman can walk or hang, I just like to watch the spectacle. Take, for instance, Mobile, Alabama's version of the Hatfields and McCoys: the Owens and Rawls. There's been an ongoing feud between Owens and the neighborhood for the past three years and police have been called to break up the squabbling on more than one occasion until recently when a mob beat the hell out of Matthew Owens and  when they left, shouted "That's justice for Trayvon". It was a neighborhood feud that got out of hand and (fingers crossed) this could be the beginning of a bold new frontier of neighborhood squabbles, vis a vis, Race Wars.

In Chicago, two teens jumped and mugged a white fella because they were angry about Trayvon. That's it, too. There is no apology, no other explanation, he simply "told the investigators that he was angry about the Martin shooting and decided to attack the victim because of his race." The sweet smell of a racially motivated war is tugging at my nose hairs. If only more young folks, in their twitter-informed rage, would rise up and start fighting those of a different race our society could quickly resort to savagery. It'd be much more interesting to live in a world where you've got to be more concerned about your neighbor physically beating and robbing you than one where I constantly live in fear of some Homeland Security lackey knocking down my door shouting some nonsense about terrorism.
